Casinos Near Alaska
There are currently three US casinos in Alaska, all operating under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1996 (IGRA). But these are not actually "casinos" per se. Instead, they are Class II gambling venues, allowed to offer bingo games, pull tabs, and a few other electronic games that don't fall under typical casino designations.
That means casinos near Alaska cities – for the few cities with such venues close by – are watered-down versions of what you'd typically expect. The reality is that AK is an enormous state with comparatively few gambling opportunities.
If you live somewhere with casinos nearby, you've got a few limited options. For most residents, though, Alaska online casinos – like those featured in our guide – aren't just closer to your location; they're also the only places you can legally enjoy real slots, real blackjack, real roulette, and other classic gambling fare.
List Of Casinos In Alaska
There aren’t many casinos in Alaska or even near Alaska. The casinos you can access nearby are limited to three Class II Alaska tribal casinos and a handful of so-called “community bingo halls.” For gamblers, the state simply isn’t interested in allowing a reasonable selection of gaming pastimes at the domestic level.
To put it another way, Alaska casinos are not destination casinos. If you’re local to these venues, they’re decent. If you’re not, they’re rarely worth the trip on their own.
Nevertheless, when you want to go out for some gambling fun, the following locations provide some. These aren't comprehensive betting experiences, but they're suitable for cutting loose here and there.
For more serious players, we recommend joining one of the several legit online AK casinos that are available.
Best Alaska Casinos Near Me
The few casinos near Alaska locales are thin in number and aren't located near the biggest cities, either. For example, if you want to gamble at a casino in Anchorage, Alaska, you can't. The closest casino to Anchorage is some 400 miles away (and, again, it's not really a "casino" in the first place).
The same goes if you’re looking for a casino near Badger (670 miles) or a casino near Fairbanks (680 miles). The only exception is if you live in or around Juneau. There is one casino in Juneau, Alaska (Tlingit and Haida Community Bingo) and two more gambling venues within 100 miles of the city (Sitka Tribal Bingo, Keex Kwaan Bingo).
Note: Even with venues within 100 miles, your travel time and expense will vary based on whether or not the venue is fully accessible by car or requires ferry rides or air travel. In nearly all cases, you’re better off playing at an Alaska casino online rather than in person.
The convenience of online casinos – to say nothing of their increased gaming selections – cannot be understated.

Best Out-of-State Casinos Closest To Alaska
If you’re demoralized by our Alaska casinos map (and if you’re a traditional gambler, you probably are), this sort of extracurricular isolation is probably nothing new to you.
The flip side, of course, is that the realities of the state make destination gaming easy. You don't need to research competing casinos near AK (i.e., casinos in Canada) because if you're going to fly, you can fly straight to Vegas for comparatively little and play at the best US casinos in the world.
If you’d like to play in person at a real physical gambling house, we recommend the casinos in Las Vegas over those anywhere else on the planet. On the other hand, if you don’t want to spend your gambling money on airfare, you can always play at various online AK casinos like those featured here.
Alaska Casinos FAQs
Not in the way you probably think of casinos. For example, most gamblers expect to be able to play real money slots and table games like blackjack and roulette and enjoy other betting markets (e.g., sports betting, poker tournaments, etc.).
At the so-called casinos in Alaska, none of these activities is available.
Indeed, because of a unique AK-specific interpretation of the IGRA and special state-tribe relationships, AK Indian casinos can’t even offer the same Class II EMGs (electronic gaming machines) that other US tribal casinos do.
Casinos in The Last Frontier are limited to themed electronic bingo games and little else. Those laws might change in the future, but Alaska is generally unfriendly to gamblers regarding accessibility.
